Our West Midlands based client seeks a microscopist to undertake identification of glass samples and foreign bodies reported from food
Duties will include undertaking microscopic investigations of glass fragments and other foreign bodies, food packaging and food structure and other materials using light and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis and FT-IR analysis after appropriate training. The successful candidate will also need to prepare technical reports on foreign body identification and other samples for food industry clients.
The ideal candidate should have a scientific degree, and be good with scientific equipment in general
Previous microscopy experience is essential, including in a forensic context
You should have an investigative, problem-solving turn of mind,
Able to work on your own or as part of a small team
Able to work well under pressure
Able to follow detailed written methods and procedures in the laboratory
A basic understanding of quality control procedures would be useful.
Salary: Circa £16,500 per annum
