Business Development Manager (Life Science)
Our client is a growing technology platform licensing and research services organisation, specialising in biotherapeutics discovery. Due to continued growth and success they are now seeking to recruit a full or part time Business Development Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for the applicant to extend their experience in life sciences business development from lead-generation, through to contract signature. The holder of the position will be expected to support the Commercial Director and the Chief Scientific Officer in all back-office business development activities but also to have the enthusiasm, confidence and knowledge to present the company at both early-stage face-to-face and teleconference meetings, very often with experienced scientists present.
The role will involve building relationships with new and existing clients within the sector and to develop new business channels for the organisation. The role will involve regular international travel.
As a minimum you should have a bachelor’s degree in life sciences, along with 2 or more years postgraduate laboratory research experience in life sciences. A further 2-3 years with direct involvement or experienced gained in sales, business development, licensing and commercial marketing in a client-facing, commercial position (life sciences industry).
As with any client facing role you will need excellent communication skills including presentations and negotiations. You should be financially literate and proficient in PowerPoint and Excel software.
It would be highly advantageous to have demonstrable knowledge of drug discovery, in order to best understand our client’s technologies. Experience with social media marketing and CRM systems is desirable. Experience of commercial contracts would be a bonus.
