Technical Specialist – Polymers/Coatings

Our West Midlands based client is a leading luxury flooring company. They are currently seeking an experienced polymer or coatings chemists to take on a technical specialist/support role on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities include :

• To provide effective, accurate and timely support to the Marketing/Sales and Technical support departments

• To maintain and update the company technical Database 

• To prepare technical documents including technical datasheets

• To benchmark products against those of competitors through internal and external testing

• To keep up to date with new Global standards and regulations relevant to flooring

• To keep up to date with new developments within resilient flooring industry

• To put forward ideas for new products

• To evaluate the performance of  flooring products and accessories

• To identify appropriate new technologies 

• To represent the company when required at industry meetings

• To undertake any task delegated by the technical Manager

• To deputise for the Technical Manager when required

Applications are invited from candidates with: 

• A BSc in a scientific subject, preferably specialised in a chemistry or material science subject experience

• Previous experience laboratory/technical support role in polymers/plastics/rubbers/coatings/flooring

• Experience in regulatory affairs

• Good communication skills

• Good attention to detail and methodical approach to work

Role: Permanent

Location: West Midlands

Salary: Up to £35,000 - Dependant on skills and experience
