Polymer Scientist – PET/Polyester

Ref: 19746

Our East Midlands based client is developing an innovative, solvent based chemical recycling process for polyester and cotton textiles and PET plastic packaging. They are actively looking to recruit for a couple of Polymer Scientists.

Successful candidates will be involved in the research and development of processes to streamline the recycling of PET products and specifically clothing in an attempt to close the production cycle and reduce the amount of wastage from these materials.

The role is heavily research based with some characterisation and development work to be undertaken. There will be some work within the process and engineering side of the business to upscale and commercialise a PET recycling process.

The ideal candidate will possess the following key skills/attributes

  • A degree in a relevant subject area (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Chemistry)
  • Previous research and practical hands on experience with polyethylene terephthalate/PET/Polyester plastics
  • Characterisation or analytical skills
  • Industrial experience within polymer process/manufacturing/extrusion or (ideally) recycling of PET products would be beneficial.

Role: Permanent

Location: East Midlands

Salary: Up to £35,000 (depending on skills and previous experience)
