Principal Scientist – Food Allergens

Our client is a large and well-established Food Research, Development and Consultancy organisation. They are recruiting for a Principal Scientist with Food Allergens specialisation to work in their Biochemistry department, providing a high quality service to their clients. The role will be delivering across a range of food allergen projects, technical queries, and training courses.


Main Duties for this role will include:


•           Liaison with clients about food allergens, answering technical enquiries

•           Provision of food allergen consultancy, developing new business

•           Initiating and managing food allergen training courses

•           Managing research projects in food allergens & associated budgets

•           Writing procedures, methods and work instructions relating to food allergen testing and other general activities undertaken in Biochemistry

•           Support section manager in promotion of activities of Biochemistry section


Ideal candidates will possess the following key skills/attributes:


•           PhD / degree in a relevant area of science

•           At least 3 years experience of food allergen including testing using ELISA, DNA based or mass spec techniques.

•           ISO 9000 and ISO 17025 working experience

•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-specialist audiences

•           Ability to manage a small team


Role: Permanent

Location: West Midlands

Salary: Up to £30,000 pa (depending on skills and experience)
