Our client is a large consultancy company working within research, development, analysis and sensory testing and providing advice and training to the food and beverage industry. As a result of their continued growth and expansion a role has arisen for a Food Law Adviser in their Regulatory Affairs Department
The role itself is to provide clients with authoritative services in food and beverage regulatory affairs. You will be expected to maintain and extend a high level of awareness of current EU and UK food legislation and likely developments. You will answer questions from clients and colleagues on the content and interpretation of food regulation. You will also be expected to train clients in food legislation and labelling and develop and contribute to publications and events related to regulatory affairs in the sector. You will also be expected to initiate new business and deliver contract services to clients on time and in budget. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of research projects for clients and recommend changes to services, products and systems.
You will be a graduate in science, law or related subjects relevant to food and beverage legislation
You will have extensive knowledge of food law acquired in a commercial, enforcement or policy setting acquired over at least 3 years
You will have well defined and developed communication skills and excellent report and presentation writing skills
You will be highly skilled at explaining complex legal provisions and developments and be able to give individually tailored written and verbal advice
You will be able to collate and prepare written summaries of legislation and train specialist staff in food law
Your experience will have you well versed in interpretation of large volumes of continually changing complex legal materials and applying these practically in a commercial setting
Your role as an adviser puts you in a unique position to be giving advice to clients to allow them to avoid costly commercial errors and maintain their reputations in the marketplace by giving them great guidance
The role will include some travel to client sites
