Laboratory Technician - Microbiology

Our Client is a leading light in Food and Beverage with a long history of providing scientific and technical support to the industry. Their activities include safety testing, investigative work and research work to ensure they provide the highest standard of expertise to their clients. Their expertise highly prized and they have over 300 employees at their picturesque site. A new opportunity has arisen to join their growing experts in food microbiology. Microbiology is a large department that is separated into different aspects of food microbiology and safety. This role is focused around ensuring that processes used are sufficiently robust to achieve decontamination. In a world of increasing antibiotic resistance this work is key to ensure the safety of our food chain and improve processes and procedures in an ever-changing microbiological landscape.
The role of the microbiology technician would be to carry out practical work to protocols set up to achieve these aims. You will need to maintain adequate and accurate records and ensure all the equipment meets the requirements of the department and perform experiments and record your results. You will make sure that adequate stocks are kept of necessary reagents and media for the laboratory and work within ISO standards.
- You will need to be an A Level qualified biologist or a Biological Sciences Graduate with at least a year of relevant lab experience
- You will need to work accurately and within time frames for projects delivery and be a highly enthusiastic team player
- You will have an organised approach and the ability to manage your own time and priorities and have an enthusiastic interest in Food Science
- You will use you written and verbal communication skills constantly in this role, so you need to be a confident communicator
