Our Client is a leading name in food research and has established a great reputation in its field. They employ over 300 people at their main site and are undergoing a period of growth. An opportunity has arisen for a Data Scientist within their Imaging and Modelling Section. This group focuses on characterising food structure, colour and composition using imaging techniques. As this data is rich in information the group require a data analyst to apply modern techniques such as multivariate statistics and machine learning to really have an in depth understanding of the composition. You will work with data from X-Ray, Micro CT, Hyperspectral NIR and Colour imaging systems to provide appropriate supporting data to solve industry clients’ problems through modelling of their processes to improve these without adversely affecting the flavour, fragrance and texture characteristics of particular foods.

You will need to be qualified in a relevant STEM subject and have a high level of knowledge in statistical methods. You will be proficient with Minitab, R and the Unscrambler and have some coding skills where required. Familiarity with FEM and CFD modelling and simulation methods would be required for the successful candidate and some postgraduate experience in a commercial environment would be an advantage along with good knowledge if image analysis methods.
